Apparently, the best thing to happen to Heath Ledger was to tragically die at such a young age. It’s probably the main reason why everyone is ranting and raving about his performace as The Joker in “The Dark Knight.”
I went and saw the movie tonight, and it was certainly watchable, mainly because I am a fan of the Batman franchise.
But I really wasn’t blown away by Ledger’s performance. It certainly doesn’t hold a candle to Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of The Joker in the 1989 Tim Burton version of Batman.
It was, for all intents and purposes, and OK performance by a medicore-at-best actor.
I’ll even go with the sentiment that it may have been Ledger’s best performance ever, but that’s not really saying much considering so many of his other big-screen performances were duds.
I think more is being made of the performance because of his untimely death. There is an old saying that an artist’s work is more valuable after the artist dies, and that seems to be the case here.

I thought Ledger was fine in the role, it’s just that the damn movie was 9-hrs long. My ass went to sleep with about 40-minutes to go.
An another thing….when did Batman start talking like he was about to sneeze? It was like Edward James Olmos was playing Batman.
